Diwali 2024 Celebration:Â This year the festival of Deepawali will not be 5 days but 6 days. Astrologer Pandit G.Raj Sharma told that the Amavasya date of Kartik month will be for two days on 31 October and 1 November. For this reason, Deepotsav will be of 6 days and not 5 days.
Kartik Amavasya will start from the afternoon of October 31 and will last till the evening of the next day i.e. November 1. There is a tradition of performing Lakshmi Puja on the night of Kartik Amavasya. Therefore, Lakshmi Puja should be performed on the night of October 31, because Amavasya Tithi will be on the night of 31st and Pratipada Tithi of Krishna Paksha will be on the night of November 1.

Dhanteras on October 29 (Dhanteras 2024)
The five-day festival of lights begins from the day of Dhanteras, which is on Tuesday 29 October this year. From this day, the festival of lights will begin and Dhanteras will be celebrated. Lord Dhanvantari Jayanti is also celebrated on Dhanteras. There is a tradition of lighting a lamp (Yam Deep) for Yamraj on the night of Dhanteras. Goddess Lakshmi is also worshipped on this date.
Roop Chaudas on October 30 (Roop Chaudas 2024)
Roop Chaudas will be celebrated on October 30. It is also called Narak Chaturdashi. There is a tradition of applying Ubtan on this day. It is believed that on this date Lord Krishna killed a demon named Narakasur. This is why this festival is called Narak Chaturdashi.
Lakshmi Puja on October 31 (Diwali Laxmi Puja 2024)
On the night of October 31, special worship of Goddess Lakshmi will be done. It is believed that the gods and demons together performed Samudra Manthan and Goddess Lakshmi appeared from this churning on the new moon day of Kartik month. Goddess Lakshmi chose Lord Vishnu. Along with this, another belief is that on this date Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya after completing 14 years of exile and killing Ravana. Then people lit lamps to welcome Ram.
Kartik Amavasya of bathing and donation on 1st November (Kartik Amavasya 2024)
Kartik Amavasya will also be on 1st November. On this day, one should take bath in holy rivers and do charity. Also do Dhoop and meditation for ancestors in the afternoon. Kartik Amavasya Tithi will end in the evening on this day.
Govardhan Puja on 2 November (Govardhan Puja 2024)
Kartik Shukla Pratipada or Govardhan Puja festival is on 2 November. On this day, there is a tradition of worshipping the Govardhan mountain in Mathura. In the Dwapar era, Shri Krishna had asked the people of Braj to worship the Govardhan mountain instead of Kansa, since then this mountain is being worshipped.
Bhai Dooj on November 3 (Bhai Dooj 2024)
Bhai Dooj is on 3 November. This festival is related to Yamuna and Yamraj. It is believed that on this day Yamraj goes to meet his sister Yamuna. Yamuna feeds Yamraj. It is believed that the brother who eats at his sister’s house on this day, all his troubles are removed and luck favors him with the blessings of Yamraj-Yamuna.
