Paris Olympics 2024: India got its second medal in the Paris Olympics on Tuesday. Shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot won bronze in the 10 meter pistol mixed event. The pair defeated the Korean team 16-10.
Manu Bhaker had also won bronze in the 10m women’s pistol event two days earlier (28 July). With this, she has become the first Indian woman to win two medals in one Olympics.

India got double medal in shooting after 12 years
India got double medal in shooting event of Olympic Games after 12 years. Earlier, Gagan Narang and Vijay Kumar had won medals in shooting in 2012 London Olympics.
Norman Pritchard won 2 medals in the 1900 Olympics
Before Manu, an English athlete Norman Pritchard had won 2 medals in an Olympic Games. He won silver in 200 meter hurdles and 200 meter race in the 1900 Paris Olympics. This was India’s first Olympic medal in the Olympics. It was also controversial because it was won by an English athlete Norman Pritchard. Therefore, England also claims it.

Manu Bhaker is a resident of Jhajjar in Haryana. 22-year-old Manu has done a course in Political Science. She has played half a dozen sports including boxing and karate during her school days.
This is Manu Bhaker’s second medal. She missed the medal by a small margin in the 10 meter pistol women’s event. Manu is playing her second Olympics.
Manu also has a chance to win a third medal. She still has to compete in the 25m air pistol event on August 2.
Sarabjot Singh hails from Dhin village in Ambala district of Haryana. His father Jatinder Singh is a farmer. He has completed his studies from DAV College Chandigarh. He used to play football initially.
Sarabjot Singh is playing his first Olympic Games. He missed a medal by a small margin in the 10 meter pistol men’s event.
Sarabjot has won gold in World Championship, World Cup and Asian Games.

Let us tell you that today i.e. 30th July, Tuesday is the fourth day of Paris Olympics and on the fourth day India got the second medal. The first medal in India’s account came on the second day of the Olympics. Till now India has got only bronze medals, so now fans are expecting gold medals from Indian athletes.

Sarabjot Singh has won many medals to his name. In the year 2019, Sarabjot Singh created history by winning the gold medal in the ISSF Junior World Cup. Apart from this, Sarabjot along with Divya T.S. won the silver medal for India in the mixed 10 meter air pistol in the Asian Games shooting competition. Now Sarabjot Singh is close to creating history by winning the bronze medal match.
Sarabjot’s career has been full of struggle
In an interview to Outlook India, Sarabjot said that his dream has been to win a gold medal in the Olympics. Every time you step on the stage, you try to give your best. The journey to the Olympics has been full of struggle for me. Sarabjot said about playing in the Olympics, “I am taking it as just another tournament, I do not want to put pressure on myself, I just want to perform the best, I am not scared at all about my performance in the Olympics; I don’t know why, but I am really calm at the moment, even though it is the Olympics – the biggest sporting event.”
