Paris Olympics: Indian shooter Manu Bhaker has created history in the Paris Olympics. She won the bronze medal in the women’s 10 meter air pistol event. Manu is the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting in Olympic history. She won bronze with 221.7 points in the final. Manu, who is playing her second Olympics, revealed her favorite dish after the victory. She celebrated the medal win like tennis star Rafael Nadal.

Manu’s pistol malfunctioned in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. She was unable to aim for 20 minutes. Even after the pistol was repaired, Manu could only hit 14 shots and was out of the final race. Manu was disappointed but she made a comeback and won a medal for India at the Paris Olympics.
Oh Ye Jin of Korea won the gold in this event. She created an Olympic record by scoring 243.2 points. Kim Yeji of Korea won the silver medal. She scored 241.3 points.
Manu Bhaker has won a medal for India in shooting after 12 years
India got its last Olympic medal in this sport in 2012. This is India’s 5th medal in shooting so far. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore won silver in 2004, Abhinav Bindra won gold in 2008 and Vijay Kumar won silver and Gagan Narang won bronze in 2012.
Manu said- reading Gita helped
After the victory, Manu said- ‘I read Gita a lot. It helps in focusing. In today’s match, I focused on the target till the end. I am happy. India deserves more than this. Hopefully India will win more medals in the remaining events.’

Manu Bhaker by talking on the phone After Manu Bhaker won the bronze, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called her and congratulated her. He said- I am happy with your success. You will do better in future. The Prime Minister wrote on X post- ‘This is a special victory. Manu Bhaker has become the first woman to win a medal in shooting… a great achievement.’

Shooting: Arjun Babuta qualifies for the finals
India’s Arjun Babuta finished seventh in the 10m air rifle men’s qualification. With this he has qualified for the final. Babuta scored a total of 630.1 points. However, another Indian Sandeep Singh finished 12th with 629.3 points and could not qualify for the final.
