Bumrah took 71 wickets in 13 Tests played in the year 2024. He is the fourth bowler to take more than 70 wickets in a calendar year for India. Before him, Ravichandran Ashwin, Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev have achieved this feat. So far, 17 bowlers have taken more than 70 wickets in a calendar year of Test cricket, but no one’s average has been equal to Bumrah’s 14.92.
Bumrah took 32 wickets in BGT, was Player of the Tournament
Bumrah took 32 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which ended in early January 2025. He was also selected as the Player of the Tournament. Bumrah returned from a back injury at the end of 2023. He took 71 wickets in 13 Tests in 2024.
During the series, Bumrah crossed the 200 Test wicket mark and became the 12th Indian bowler to do so. The 31-year-old Bumrah is the only bowler in Test history to take 200 wickets at the lowest average (19.4).
Bumrah took 8 wickets against South Africa
