Crores of rupees rain on hockey team, Odisha government’s big announcement; money will rain on support staff too

The Indian hockey team has won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics 2024. After the historic victory of the team, gifts have started raining on the players. Now Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced to rain money on Team India. But the highest amount from the Odisha government will be given to Indian team defender Amit Rohidas. Amit Rohidas has been promised an amount of crores, not lakhs.

4 crores to Amit Rohidas

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, while announcing the prize money, said that Indian team defender Amit Rohidas from Odisha will be given a prize money of Rs 4 crore. He also said that each of the other players of the team will be given Rs 15 lakh, while each member of the support staff will be given Rs 10 lakh.

Amit Rohidas was born in Sundargarh district of Odisha and has been playing as a defender for India’s senior hockey team since 2013. Amit was also a part of the bronze medal winning Indian team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Amit is a defender by profession, but he has also scored 28 goals in 184 matches in his career.

He came into the news because he got a red card

Amit Rohidas is the same player who was shown a red card in the quarterfinal match of Paris Olympics 2024. Actually, India faced Great Britain in the quarterfinal, in which the Indian team won 4-2 in the penalty shootout and made it to the semifinal. But when the quarterfinal match was going on, while trying to hit the ball, the back of Amit Rohidas’ hockey stick hit the face of a Great Britain player. On this basis, Amit had to sit out of the entire match.
