Donald Trump Hints at Changing the U.S. Constitution—Something No President Has Ever Dared

Donald Trump Tracker: Donald Trump, overjoyed by his spectacular victory in the US presidential election, said something that no president has been able to do so far. Trump may have said this in a light-hearted manner, but it has given rise to a debate in America.

Donald Trump: Donald Trump is full of enthusiasm after winning the US presidential election. He is busy selecting the team for his new government. However, in the meantime, he hinted at something that no president has been able to do in the last 70 years. In fact, the newly elected President Trump hinted on Wednesday that he may be ready for a third term as well.

Donald Trump told his supporters at a hotel in Washington, “I think I will not contest the elections again. Yes, if you say that ‘that is good, we should think of something else’ then it is a different matter.” Trump’s supporters started laughing loudly at this statement.

How can a constitutional amendment be overturned?

Although Donald Trump said this in a light-hearted manner, it gave rise to a new debate there. Actually, an amendment was made in the US Constitution in the year 1951, in which a third term for any President was constitutionally prohibited. Under this, the President can contest elections only twice.

On the other hand, according to Voice of America, this amendment can be reversed, but for this, a change in the Constitution will be needed. For this, a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress and approval from three-fourths of the states will be necessary.
