Pakistan Elections: 1000 Crores Spent on Choosing a PM, Amidst Democracy’s Struggles with Army Interference!

Pakistan Elections 2024: Pakistan spent 1000 crores to elect PM: Understand the entire election of the neighboring country in 5 points

Pakistan Elections 2024: Like India, Pakistan is also a parliamentary democracy. Here too there are two houses in the Parliament. But till date the Pak Army in power has not allowed any Prime Minister to complete his 5 year tenure.

Voting for general elections has been completed in Pakistan. Usually the results would become clear by late night on the day of counting, but this time it has not happened. In such a situation, questions are being raised on the results of vote counting.

How bad the social and political situation is in Pakistan can be gauged from the fact that a week before the National Assembly elections, the head of the country’s most popular party is sentenced to 24 years in jail. Besides, the election symbol of his party is also cancelled.

Now understand Pakistan’s elections in 5 points

1.The most expensive election so far in Pakistan.

his time the most expensive election has taken place in Pakistan so far. According to the report, about one thousand crore rupees have been spent. This is 28 times more expenditure than the last election. 7 lakh soldiers were deployed for security in the elections. 1 lakh 33 thousand soldiers were deployed only in Sindh.

The number of candidates is also more this time. Where 11,700 candidates were in the fray in the last 2018 elections. This time 18,059 candidates contested the elections. Among these, the number of independent candidates is 11,785. Due to snatching of election symbol from Imran Khan ‘s party PTI, the number of independent candidates is 21 percent more than last time.

      2. It is decided before the elections who will win!

Retired defense expert Colonel Shailendra told a private, before the elections in Pakistan, it is decided who will win. In Pakistan, no one can compete with the army there. Even the ballot box is under the control of the army. Terrorism is already at its peak. These terrorists are also puppets of the army. Whatever the army wants will happen here.

      3. How much power does the Pakistan PM have?

According to the Constitution of Pakistan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is the head of the government and is responsible for the executive power. Pakistan has a parliamentary system, so the Prime Minister is usually the leader of the political party or coalition that has a majority in the National Assembly. Like any other minister, it is mandatory for the Prime Minister to be a member of Parliament.

The Prime Minister appoints ministers to oversee the major functions and ministries of the government. Apart from this, the Prime Minister also appoints some other important posts. Like- Commonwealth Secretary, local Chief Secretary, key administrative and military personnel of Pakistani Armed Forces, Chairman of companies like NHA, PIA and PNSC etc.

Not only this, many special ministries like federal commissions, chairpersons of public bodies, ambassadors and high commissioners of other countries are usually assigned to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has also been given command and authority over the country’s nuclear weapons. The presence of the Prime Minister from Pakistan is necessary in big conferences held abroad. The Prime Minister represents his country.

      4. What is the qualification required to become PM?

According to the Constitution of Pakistan, the candidate for the post of Prime Minister must be a citizen of Pakistan. Must be a Muslim and must be at least 25 years of age. Apart from this, one should have adequate knowledge of Islamic teachings. Must follow the obligations prescribed by Islam and not be involved in serious crimes.

Most importantly, the candidate must be of good character and not generally known to violate Islamic prohibitions. The Prime Minister should never have acted against the national unity or opposed the ideology of Pakistan since the establishment of Pakistan.

      5. What are the rules for prosecuting the PM?

Under the Constitution of Pakistan, the Prime Minister is exempt from criminal and civil action during his tenure. This means that no legal action can be initiated or continued against him while he is in office. However, action can be taken against him after his tenure ends.

However, this exemption is not complete. For example, the Prime Minister may face impeachment and be tried for serious crimes such as endangering national security or violating the Constitution.

Under Section 62 of the Constitution, certain qualifications have been prescribed for the Prime Minister. If the Prime Minister does not meet these qualifications, he can be disqualified. For example, in 2017, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had disqualified the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after his name cropped up in the Panama Papers case.

It is claimed that since independence till today the entire country is running under the shadow of Pakistan Army. Till now no Prime Minister in Pakistan has been able to complete his 5 year tenure. That means no government lasted for full five years. There have been a total of 32 Prime Ministers since 1947. Of these, 8 Prime Ministers were caretakers, but none lasted for five years. The biggest reason for this is the army’s interference in power. The army made whomever it wanted as PM and removed whomever it wanted from the post of PM.

Which country has the most powerful army in the world?
