Pakistan Elections 2024 Results: General elections have been held in Pakistan and the results of most of the seats have come out. Results are yet to be announced on some seats in Pakistan, but the political picture has become clear. Imran Khan’s power has been seen in Pakistan general elections. In Pakistan, independent candidates supported by PTI have won the maximum number of seats. But from party point of view, Nawaz Sharif’s party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as the largest party. Even though the people have considered the candidates supported by Imran Khan as their first choice, Nawaz Sharif is leading in terms of forming the government.

Nawaz claimed to form government

Nawaz claimed to form government in Pakistan General Elections. Because Nawaz Sharif’s party PML-N has emerged as the largest party, he has claimed to form a coalition government. For this, he has also intensified efforts to join hands with other parties.

Addressing party supporters at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central secretariat in Lahore, 74-year-old Nawaz Sharif said his party is proud of all the parties including the victory of independent candidates backed by Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Respects the mandate of the parties. Changing his stance of not forging an alliance with any party, Nawaz Sharif on Friday said all political parties need to sit together and form a government to get Pakistan out of its troubles.

Who got how many seats?

The Election Commission has so far declared the results of 224 constituencies out of 265. Independent candidates supported by Imran Khan’s party got 92 seats, while Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N got 63 seats and Bilawal Bhutto’s PPP got 50 seats. Apart from this, smaller parties got 19 seats. In Pakistan elections, independent candidates supported by Imran Khan have surprised everyone by winning 92 seats without bat symbol.

Who can become the PM of Pakistan?

74-year-old Nawaz Sharif, who has been the Prime Minister of Pakistan thrice, is once again at the forefront of the race to become the Prime Minister. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, Nawaz Sharif’s party has emerged as the largest party and secondly, he has the full support of the Pakistani Army.

Pakistani Army also wants to make Nawaz Sharif the Prime Minister of Pakistan. This is the reason why Imran Khan has been kept in jail. Because the seats of Bilawal Bhutto’s party PPP are much less than that of Nawaz, it does not seem possible for him to become PM.

Imran Khan’s party PTI has been disqualified and its symbol has also been taken away. In such a situation, it does not seem possible for Imran Khan to become the Prime Minister.

How efforts are being made to form government

Nawaz Sharif has asked his younger brother and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif to form a coalition government with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)’s Asif Ali Zardari, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Fazlur. Rehman and has been assigned the task of contacting Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). PPP co-chairman Zardari has reached Lahore and is likely to meet the PML-N leadership regarding government formation. The PML-N-led coalition remained in power for 16 months after the ouster of Imran Khan in April 2022.

Imran Khan is in jail

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan (71) is in jail and he is banned from contesting elections. Imran Khan’s party candidates contested the elections as independent candidates after the country’s Supreme Court had upheld the Election Commission’s decision to deprive his party of its election symbol ‘cricket bat’.

How many seats for majority

To form a new government in Pakistan, any party will have to win 133 out of 265 seats in the National Assembly. The election on one seat was postponed after the death of a candidate. Overall, 169 seats out of 336 are required to achieve majority, which also includes seats reserved for women and minorities.
