Pakistan Elections Fallout: After the results of the elections in Pakistan, supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party PTI have started protesting, alleging rigging. According to the report of Pakistan’s ‘Sama TV’, there are reports of clashes between PTI supporters and police in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar. There are also reports of police firing tear gas shells at the protesters. On the other hand, the results which were released by the Election Commission of Pakistan are no longer visible. The website of Pakistan Election Commission has been closed.
In the elections of Pakistan, no party has got a clear majority in the National Assembly. But PPP’s Bilawal Bhutto and PML-N’s Shahbaz Sharif are in the race to become the Prime Minister in a coalition government. Despite not having any election symbol in Pakistan’s general election, candidates supporting Imran Khan have won 101 seats. Whereas Nawaz Sharif’s party got 75 seats and Bilawal’s party got 54 seats. After being at the forefront of Pakistan election results, now Imran supporters have demanded the army to release all the political prisoners including Imran Khan.
Allegations of rigging
67 hours after the end of voting for the National Assembly and provincial elections in Pakistan, the counting of votes has been completed on all the seats. However, till now the Election Commission has not made its official announcement. Accusations are leveled against the army itself
There are a total of 336 seats in the National Assembly of Pakistan. Of these, elections were held on 265 seats. Elections on one seat have been postponed, while the results of one seat NA-88 have been rejected. Voting will take place here again on 15th February. The remaining 70 seats are reserved. A majority of 134 MPs is necessary to form a federal government in Pakistan. There is competition mainly between 3 parties in Pakistan. These include Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). At present, the army itself is being accused of this entire election rigging.
