US Presidential Debate: Today (Friday), 5 months before the US presidential election in November, the first presidential debate took place between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. This contest between Republican candidate Trump and Democrat candidate Biden took place for the second time in 4 years. Earlier, both of them came face to face in the 2020 elections.
The debate was held at CNN’s studio in Atlanta, Georgia. During this, both leaders expressed their views on important issues for 75 minutes. Trump spoke for longer than President Biden in the debate.
For the first time, this debate has taken place about three months ahead of schedule. Usually the first presidential debate takes place in September. Trump and Biden have not yet been declared candidates by their parties.

The debate was hosted by CNN’s two anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. They are called moderators. They asked the candidates questions on important issues one by one. Trump and Biden had 2 minutes to answer.
After presenting their side, Trump and Biden got 1 minute each to counter (make allegations) and answer them. The candidates were given 1 pen, 1 notepad and 1 water bottle. The microphone of the candidates was switched on only when their turn came.
On Drugs Issue Trump said- Biden gets money from China
Question- The number of deaths in the country due to drug overdose has increased during both of your tenures. Trump, what will you do to get Americans out of drug addiction and provide them treatment?
Trump’s answer-Â We have suffered a lot during Biden’s tenure. Biden gets money from China for this. He is a Manchurian Candidate. He is afraid to deal with China. China is out to destroy us. We were dealing with the problem of narcotics before Corona. But then drugs started being supplied from across the border. We took strict measures to stop it. This also led to a decline in smuggling. But then the supply of drugs increased during Biden’s tenure.
Biden’s answer-Â Trump’s allegations are false. The smuggling of fentanyl in the country has decreased. We are installing machinery to identify drugs at the border. Trump had called the MPs of his Republican Party and asked them not to allow this machinery.
On Foreign Policy Issue Trump said- Biden provoked Putin to attack Ukraine
Question-Â Putin says that he will stop the war only when Ukraine gives up its claim on the areas which Russia has occupied. It will also have to give up its insistence on joining NATO. Trump, do you accept these conditions?
Trump’s answer-Â Biden is the worst commander in chief ever. American soldiers like me more as president. If we truly had a president that even Putin respected, he would never attack Ukraine. Biden did nothing to stop the war. I think he provoked Putin to attack.
Biden’s decision on Afghanistan brought disgrace to America all over the world, but Biden did nothing. We left military equipment and weapons worth several billion dollars in Afghanistan. Many of our soldiers were killed there. We also left American citizens there. Seeing this, Putin decided to attack Ukraine.
If America had a responsible President, even Hamas would never have been able to attack Israel. During my tenure, terrorism was not increasing like this anywhere, but during Biden’s tenure the entire world is being destroyed.
Biden’s answer : First of all, talking about Afghanistan, we have evacuated thousands of people from Afghanistan. Putin is a war criminal. He has killed millions of people. He wants to re-establish the Soviet empire. He will not allow peace to come to Ukraine.

Elderly candidate in the race to become President
This is the first time in the history of American presidential debates that such elderly candidates are contesting the election. Biden is 81 years old, while Trump is 78 years old.
In the last election in 2020, Biden was 77 years old, while Trump was 74. Until a few years ago, Ronald Reagan held the record for conducting the oldest election debate.
He was 73 years old when he contested the election in 1984. However, his record was broken in the last election itself.

2. The second parameter is opinion polls. News channels and survey agencies conduct opinion polls after the presidential debate. Then the results are announced. The possible reasons for victory and defeat are also revealed.
3. Social media also works as a parameter. The reactions of users on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram show who is strong and who is weak in the presidential election.
4. Apart from this, voting intention survey is also a means of deciding victory or defeat. Some agencies conduct voting intention survey. In this, voters are asked whether their voting decision has changed after the presidential debate? That is, the candidate who is able to impress more voters is considered the winner.
What is the date of the second debate?
Joe Biden and Donald Trump have also agreed for the second debate. This debate is to be held on September 10, which will be hosted by ABC Media Network.Â
When will the Vice Presidential debate take place?
The Vice Presidential debate in the US can be held on 23 July or 13 August. The Biden campaign accepted the request for the debate and said that Kamala Harris can take out time for the debate on both dates. However, Trump has not yet announced the candidate for the Vice Presidential debate.
