Proposal to rename Jewar Airport as Lord Krishna Airport sent to CM Yogi

A proposal to rename the upcoming Noida Jewar International Airport has been put forward by Professor KS Rana, Trade Commissioner, Gulf Countries Council (GCC), who has written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath suggesting it be called “Lord Krishna Airport, Braj Bhumi.”

In his letter, Professor Rana, who has served as Vice Chancellor to six private Universities at different point of time, praised the State Government’s swift and forward-looking efforts in establishing the airport, noting its potential to drive economic growth, industrial development and entrepreneurial activity across Uttar Pradesh.

Rana emphasised the cultural and spiritual significance of the region, pointing out that Jewar lies within the historic Braj Bhumi, closely associated with the life and legacy of Lord Krishna.

Naming the airport accordingly, he stated it would honour this heritage while giving the region a distinctive global identity.

The proposal underscores the connection between infrastructure and cultural identity, raising questions about how modern projects can reflect historical and spiritual narratives.

The airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi last week
