The Delhi government has announced financial assistance for victims of the deadly fire in Malviya Nagar, where at least 21 people lost their lives.
As per the announcement, the government will provide ₹10 lakh as ex-gratia to the next of kin of each deceased person, while ₹5 lakh will be given to those injured in the incident.
The move comes amid ongoing investigations into the tragedy, which occurred at a bed-and-breakfast facility in south Delhi and is suspected to have involved serious violations of fire safety norms. Officials have also indicated that the building was allegedly operating beyond its permitted capacity and lacked proper safety clearances, raising concerns of regulatory lapses.
Authorities continue to probe the cause of the blaze, which reportedly left multiple foreign nationals among the dead and several others critically injured.
