Raipur: After months of uncertainty, the administration has finally initiated an eviction drive in village Nakti, located in the Mana area. Around a thousand police personnel, accompanied by JCB machines, have been deployed since midnight to demolish houses illegally constructed in the area. According to reports, there are 48 such illegal houses across Wards 16 and 17 of the village; the Revenue Department has affixed eviction notices to them.
Administrative officials state that the action is being taken because the land in question is government property that has been illegally encroached upon. Conversely, villagers opposing the move argue that they have been living on this land for years.
Many of these houses were built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PM Awas Yojana). Amidst these conflicting claims, the deployment of a massive police force for the eviction drive has created an atmosphere of tension in the village.
