Bikaner: The Education Department now appears to be taking a serious view of cases involving teachers who have been absent from government schools in Rajasthan for extended periods. The Directorate of Secondary Education has issued instructions to immediately provide detailed information regarding such teachers across the state. An order to this effect has been sent by the Joint Director (Personnel) to all Divisional Joint Directors.
According to the issued instructions, full details of teachers who have been absent from schools for a long time are sought from each division in a prescribed format. The report must clearly record the teacher’s name, subject, current place of posting, the date from which they have been absent, and the reason for the absence. Furthermore, instructions have been given to complete this task on a top-priority basis.
This move by the Directorate indicates that the department is preparing to review—at the state level—cases of teachers who have remained away from duty for various reasons without authorization or for prolonged periods. It is anticipated that necessary administrative and disciplinary actions may follow based on the reports received.
According to departmental sources, the information being gathered could serve several important purposes. These may include the verification of service records, disciplinary proceedings, the assessment of actual vacancies in schools, and ensuring the availability of teachers as required. It will also clarify which schools are facing a teacher shortage and which positions have remained unfilled for extended periods.
