Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, Iran has announced that it targeted two US military bases in Kuwait using attack drones. Significantly, Iran has described this military operation as a direct response to US attacks on Iranian soil. Prior to this, Iran had already carried out attacks in Iraq and Jordan.

According to Iranian state media, the Iranian military confirmed that its latest operation involved major strikes on a US Army ammunition depot at Camp Udairi in Kuwait. Additionally, large-scale attacks using suicide drones were carried out against Patriot radar systems and air surveillance radars at the Ali Al Salem Airbase.
US Retaliates for Deaths of Two Soldiers in Jordan Attack
It is worth noting that this Iranian attack on Kuwait followed US airstrikes on Iran during the night between Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the Pentagon stated that the US military operation was launched in response to a missile attack on an airbase in Jordan that killed two American soldiers; one soldier went missing, and four others required hospitalization.
US Aims to Degrade Iran’s Military Capabilities
According to US Central Command, the objective of these retaliatory strikes was to swiftly penalize Iran’s IRGC and further diminish Iran’s capacity to disrupt the movement of oil tankers through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Iran Also Launches Attacks in Iraq and Kuwait
Significantly, this cross-border military action occurred amidst rising instability in the Middle East. During this period, a drone attack also took place in Iraq, and Iran issued further warnings. Furthermore, Iran caused damage to civilian areas and energy infrastructure in Kuwait. According to official figures, 16 US soldiers have been killed in the Middle East since the conflict with Iran began. Additionally, more than 430 troops have been injured.
