Raigarh Steel Plant Accident: Five workers suffered burn injuries in an industrial accident in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at the Maa Shiva Plant, located within the Punjipathra police station limits, where five employees were caught in the path of a sudden technical malfunction involving an induction furnace. Two of the injured workers are reported to be in critical condition.
According to reports, a sudden “boiling” condition developed in the induction furnace around 7:00 AM on Wednesday while routine operations were underway. Workers present at the site—Pramod Soni, Chaukhar Singh, Shani Singh, Chatur Yadav, and Guddu—were burned by the hot metal and intense heat. Chaos ensued at the plant premises following the incident. Other employees immediately initiated rescue efforts and rushed the injured to a private hospital in Raigarh, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Among the injured, the condition of Pramod Soni and Chaukhar Singh remains critical; both have been referred to Raipur for further treatment. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Punjipathra police arrived at the scene, inspected the site, and launched an investigation. The police are investigating the cause of the accident as well as checking for compliance with safety standards.
