Raipur: The SIT investigation into the deaths of five members of the same family in Sanjay Nagar has revealed shocking details. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the deceased, Sajid Ali, was heavily in debt due to betting. To cope with this, he had borrowed ₹16 lakh from the market at a high interest rate. He was under immense pressure to repay the amount, and creditors had begun visiting his home to threaten him. The SIT is also investigating angles related to family discord and internal disputes. According to police officials, Sajid Ali first poisoned his wife Rabia, son Irshad, and daughters Shahida Begum and Irshaba Parveen. He then sat beside the bodies all night. Approximately nine hours after the killings, he committed suicide by hanging himself.
Two suspicious numbers found during technical investigation
During the technical investigation, the police discovered two suspicious numbers on Sajid Ali’s mobile phone. He had been in constant communication with these numbers. Sajid spoke to these numbers on the night of July 17 as well, while the bodies of the five family members were discovered on the night of July 18. Both numbers have been inactive since the incident, and the police are searching for the two individuals associated with them.
Work stopped a year ago, yet the household continued to run
According to the police, Sajid was an expert in battery manufacturing but had stopped working a year ago. Despite this, the family’s expenses continued to be met. Investigations into his mobile phone and bank account have yielded crucial clues linked to betting; frequent transactions were observed in his account during the IPL season.
