CG Teacher Pension: 1.60 lakh ‘Local Body’ (LB) teachers have suffered a major setback from the Chhattisgarh government.
The Chhattisgarh government has refused to recognize LB teachers as government servants for the period prior to 2018. The School Education Department has issued an official order declaring invalid the applications submitted by teachers who were absorbed into the Education Department on July 1, 2018.
In the order, the School Education Department clarified that LB teachers would not receive the benefit of service calculation starting from their date of initial appointment. Consequently, claims regarding pension determination and all other associated benefits have been rejected.
Benefits, including pension, to apply from July 1, 2018
The order cites Clauses 4 and 5 of the earlier absorption directive dated June 30, 2018. Under these provisions, the calculation of all benefits—including pension—for LB teachers will commence only from July 1, 2018. Any claims pertaining to the period prior to this date will not be recognized.
Appointments made in Panchayats and Urban Bodies in 2011
Teachers in Chhattisgarh were originally appointed under Panchayat and Urban Bodies around 2011. These teachers were absorbed into the School Education Department on July 1, 2018. As a result, the government has refused to recognize them as government teachers for the approximately eight-year period preceding 2018.
