Mahasamund: Eight juveniles escaped from the juvenile observation home in Baronda Bazar early Monday morning. They fled the premises between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM after breaking the window grilles. This incident has raised questions regarding the security of the observation home. The police have launched a search operation to locate the boys who escaped.
According to reports, all the escaped juveniles had been sent to the observation home over the past four to five months in connection with various criminal cases. One was detained for rape and two for theft, while others faced charges under various laws, including the NDPS Act. The juveniles reportedly hail from areas under police station jurisdictions in Mahasamund, Saraipali, Dhamtari, and Odisha.
Upon receiving news of the incident, officials from the Kotwali police, the Women and Child Development Department, and the district administration arrived at the scene. The entire premises is being inspected, and the police have initiated an extensive search operation to find the escaped juveniles.
It is worth noting that a similar incident involving the escape of children from this same observation home occurred about two years ago. This latest incident has once again raised serious questions about the security arrangements at the facility. The police are currently investigating the matter.
