Bus Strike: Commuters relying on private buses in Rajasthan may face increased difficulties. Angered by the Transport Department’s actions, private bus operators have decided to go on an indefinite state-wide strike. This decision was reached unanimously during a state-level meeting of various bus associations in Jaipur. The operators have announced that the movement of private buses across Rajasthan will cease starting at 11:59 PM on August 10.
Bus operators upset with Transport Department’s actions
Bus unions allege that the Transport Department is frequently issuing challans (fines) and conducting inspections, which they deem arbitrary and unjust. Operators state that these actions have created a livelihood crisis for thousands of drivers, conductors, owners, and other staff associated with the private bus industry. In protest against this, the bus associations have collectively decided to strike. The unions maintain that the agitation will continue until their grievances are addressed.
No online ticket booking from the night of August 10
To ensure the strike’s effectiveness, bus unions have issued instructions to their members. Under these directives, no operator will prepare a new online booking chart starting from the night of August 10. Furthermore, ticket bookings via digital platforms will not be accepted. Bus associations have urged all operators to strictly adhere to this collective decision.
Bus services in cities including Jaipur and Jodhpur to be affected
The private bus strike is likely to impact bus services operating from major cities in Rajasthan. Inter-district and inter-state private bus services running from Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, and Bikaner are expected to be disrupted. Consequently, passengers relying on these buses may face commuting difficulties.
