Raipur: Just three days after the monsoon withdrew from the capital, Raipur, the weather took a sudden turn. On Wednesday afternoon, clouds gathered rapidly, and strong winds accompanied rainfall in several areas; hailstorms were also reported in some places. The Meteorological Department has forecast similar weather conditions for parts of the state on Thursday as well.
Prior to this shift, the maximum temperature in Raipur had reached around 34 degrees Celsius. Subsequently, clouds moved in, and strong winds altered the weather pattern. While some parts of the city received rain, sunshine persisted in other areas.
According to weather experts, this change is attributed to a cyclonic circulation system forming over the region spanning Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Although the monsoon has officially withdrawn from Raipur, it remains active in parts of the Bilaspur and Sarguja divisions.
The impact of a cyclonic system—originally over Uttar Pradesh—moving towards Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh was evident on Wednesday. Under its influence, Durg experienced significant rainfall in the afternoon. Earlier, rain had also been recorded in parts of the Bilaspur, Balrampur, and Kabirdham districts.
In the capital, Raipur, the Mana area experienced rain for a short while, whereas the Saddu area saw light rain accompanied by a hailstorm. Thunder and strong winds prevailed across many parts of the city, even as sunshine broke through in some localities.
Meteorologists state that similar weather conditions are likely to persist on Thursday, though no major changes are anticipated. The system is expected to weaken after Friday. Currently, the state is experiencing a pattern of strong daytime sunshine and a slight chill at night.
