Mumbai: Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is currently in the spotlight for his upcoming film, ‘Ramayana’. Ranbir, who portrays Lord Ram in the movie, recently made an intriguing statement regarding ancient Indian mythology and modern technology. Drawing a parallel between the ‘Pushpak Viman’ (a flying chariot) described in the Ramayana and Elon Musk’s flying car, he remarked that such flying vehicles existed in India as early as 5,000 years ago.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, this highly anticipated film aims to bring the grandeur of the Indian epic to the big screen. Ranbir Kapoor shared these thoughts during an interview for ‘Star Talks’, where he was joined by his co-stars—Yash, Ravi Dubey, and Rakul Preet Singh—along with director Nitesh Tiwari.
What did Ranbir Kapoor say about the Pushpak Viman?
During the interview, the host brought up the various weapons and extraordinary elements mentioned in the Ramayana, noting that many of the things depicted in the epic seem to rival even modern-day technology. In response, director Nitesh Tiwari discussed the experience of presenting these mythological elements in a fresh, contemporary way within the film.
Meanwhile, referencing the flying car developed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Ranbir Kapoor brought up the Pushpak Viman. He stated, “Elon Musk has recently created a flying car. I believe India had already achieved this 5,000 years ago.”
What is Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster?
Tesla’s next-generation Roadster has been a subject of discussion for a long time. This electric sports car was first announced nearly a decade ago. On October 15, during a demonstration at SpaceX’s rocket development and testing facility in Texas, the vehicle was showcased performing several unique stunts.
In one part of the demonstration, the car was seen driving upside down along a large, curved ramp. Following this, it soared into the air, remained airborne for a few seconds, and then landed safely. However, this vehicle is not yet available for purchase.
What is the significance of the ‘Pushpak Viman’ in the Ramayana?
According to Hindu mythology, the Pushpak Viman was crafted for Lord Brahma by Lord Vishwakarma, the architect of the gods. Later, it became associated with the legend of Ravana and Lord Rama. In the Ramayana, the Pushpak Viman is described as a marvelous, divine flying vehicle.
In the film ‘Ramayana’, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ranbir Kapoor will appear as Lord Rama, and Sai Pallavi will portray Mata Sita. Meanwhile, Yash will play the role of Ravana. Ravi Dubey and Rakul Preet Singh will also feature in significant roles.
The first part of the film is set to be released in theaters on November 5, 2026, coinciding with Diwali. There is already a great deal of excitement among the audience regarding the film.
