At least 43 people have died and dozens have been injured in a fire in a six-storey shopping mall in the capital. Health Minister Samantha Lal Sen said that the fire broke out in the downtown area of ​​Dhaka on Thursday night. Firefighters pulled out the survivors safely. 43 people have died in this incident, while 22 people are undergoing treatment. 

The Health Minister said that firefighters have taken out the burnt bodies from inside the mall. Minister Samanta Lal Sen said 33 people, including women and children, were declared dead at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, while 10 were taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, where doctors also treated them. Declared dead. This incident of fire occurred in the shopping mall of Bailey Road area, where there are many restaurants. 

How did the fire start? 

Firefighters said that the fire started from a famous restaurant located on the first floor of the shopping mall. After this, within no time the fire engulfed the entire building. The fire spread rapidly also because gas cylinders were present in many restaurants. Due to the fire, many people were trapped inside the building. The actual cause of the fire has not been known yet. The fire department has formed a team to find out the cause of the fire in the shopping mall.

The fire was brought under control after hours of effort

According to news agency AP, Fire Service and Civil Defense Director General Brigadier MD. Mainuddin said that dozens of fire brigade teams were deployed to control the fire. After several hours of hard work the fire was brought under control. Firefighters said that at least 75 people were rescued from inside the shopping mall, out of which 42 were taken out in an unconscious condition. Most of them had become unconscious due to smoke. 

People jumped from the building to save their lives

According to Dhaka Tribune, firefighters said that the fire broke out at a restaurant named ‘Kachchi Bhai’ at 9.45 pm and was extinguished at 12.30 am. Dozens of people died during this period. Some people thought it right to jump from the building due to the fire or suffocation, but they also died after falling down. Many videos of this incident have also surfaced, in which people can be seen crying.
