RCB vs KKR; IPL 2024: Virat Kohli’s fiery innings went in vain, KKR won the match by 7 wickets

RCB vs KKR, IPL 2024: KKR's explosive batting against RCB, achieved the target of 183 runs in 16.5 overs, won the match by 7 wickets.

IPL 2024 KKR vs RCB: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) once again managed to defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at their home ground i.e. Chinnaswamy. RCB had last won against KKR at home in 2015. KKR maintained their record against them at Bengaluru’s home ground. Venkatesh Iyer played the biggest innings of 50 runs for Kolkata. With this win, KKR ruined Kohli’s brilliant innings. 

In the 10th match of IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bangalore batted first and scored 182/6 runs in 20 overs. Kohli scored 83* (59) runs with 4 fours and 4 sixes for the team, but he could not give victory to RCB. This was the first match of IPL 2024 in which the home team faced defeat. Kolkata defeated Bangalore by 7 wickets. 

Philip Salt and Sunil Narine made a quick partnership of 86 runs for the first wicket and gave KKR a good start and the confidence to chase the target of 183 runs. After this, the rest of the work was done by Venkatesh Iyer and captain Shreyas Iyer. Both added 75 runs for the third wicket. 

This is how KKR won 

Chasing a target of 183 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a great start with openers Phillip Salt and Sunil Narine sharing 86 runs (39 balls). The team suffered its first setback in the form of Narine in the 7th over, who returned to the pavilion after scoring 47 runs in 22 balls with the help of 2 fours and 5 sixes. Then the team suffered its second setback in the form of Phillip Salt in the 8th over. Salt returned to the pavilion after scoring 30 runs in 20 balls with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes. 

After losing two wickets early, it seemed that the match might once again come under the control of RCB, but Venkatesh Iyer and captain Shreyas Iyer did not let this happen. Both of them shared a 75 (44 balls) run partnership for the fifth wicket and almost put the victory in KKR’s account. Although Yash Dayal sent Venkatesh to the pavilion on the first ball of the 16th over, but by then it was too late. Venkatesh played an innings of 50 runs by hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes in 30 balls. Captain Shreyas Iyer remained at the crease by scoring 39* runs with the help of 2 fours and 2 sixes in 24 balls till the team won. During this, Rinku Singh scored 5* runs at the other end. 

RCB bowlers were thrashed fiercely

KKR batsmen took on RCB bowlers. Yash Dayal, Vijaykumar Vaish and Mayank Dagar took 1-1 wickets. Vijaykumar Vaish was the most economical. He conceded just 23 runs in 4 overs. Mayank Dagar conceded 23 runs in 2.5 overs and Yash Dayal conceded 46 runs in 4 overs. Alzari Joseph proved to be the most expensive, conceding 34 runs in 2 overs. Apart from this, Mohammad Siraj conceded 46 runs in 3 overs.
