MI vs DC IPL 2024: After 3 consecutive defeats Mumbai Indians Defeat Delhi by 29 Runs, Won First match of the Season Under Hardik’s Captaincy

MI vs DC, IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians registered their first win of the season by defeating Delhi Capitals by 29 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match.

MI vs DC IPL 2024: Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 29 runs in front of their home fans at Wankhede Stadium. This is MI’s first win in IPL 2024, before this the team had lost 3 matches in a row. Mumbai Indians batted first and scored 234 runs. Chasing the target, Prithvi Shaw scored 66 runs in 40 balls for Delhi, while the important innings of Abhishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs also failed to take the team to victory. Tristan Stubbs played an unbeaten stormy innings of 71 runs in 25 balls. For MI, Rohit Sharma scored 49 runs, Ishan Kishan scored 42 and in the last overs, Tim David and Romario Shepherd brought a storm of sixes. 

Mumbai bowlers had taken control of the match

After 15 overs, Delhi Capitals’ score was 144 runs for 3 wickets and they had to score 91 runs to win in the next 5 overs. Only 9 runs were scored in the 16th over and Delhi Capitals were on the backfoot due to the wicket of Rishabh Pant. But Tristan Stubbs was still at the crease and the situation was such that DC needed 63 runs in the last 3 overs.

In the 17th over, Jasprit Bumrah gave only 8 runs, which almost ensured MI’s victory because Delhi had to score 55 runs in the last 12 balls. In the last 2 overs, Mumbai bowlers had taken control of the match, due to which DC had to face defeat by 29 runs. In the last over, Gerald Coetzee ensured a big win for his team by sending 3 Delhi batsmen to the pavilion.

The batsmen dominated the match

The batsmen dominated the MI vs DC match from start to finish. First, Rohit Sharma scored 49 runs in 27 balls for Mumbai Indians, while Ishan Kishan also scored 42 runs in 23 balls.

Although Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya also contributed 39 runs, the heroes of MI’s innings were Tim David and Romario Shepherd. David scored 45 runs and Shepherd hit 39 runs in just 10 balls. David and Shepherd together hit 8 sixes in the last overs for MI.

On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw contributed 66 runs and Abhishek Porel contributed 41 runs for Delhi. Although Rishabh Pant and David Warner’s bats failed, Tristan Stubbs played an innings of 71 runs in 25 balls.
