Who is Aman Sehrawat: ‘Dream of winning gold medal in Olympics’, Wrestler Aman Sehrawat Wins Bronze Medal

Wrestlers have won medals for India in the Olympics since 2008. Now Aman has maintained this series, let us tell you that in the bronze medal match, Aman defeated Darian Toi Cruz 13-5 and succeeded in getting a bronze medal for India. Aman has become the youngest athlete to win a medal for India in the Olympics. 

The journey of peace has been wonderful

Aman gained recognition by becoming the first Indian wrestler to win a gold medal in the Under 23 Wrestling Championship. His success is attributed to the inspiration he received from two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar. His parents died when he was 11 years old. After losing his parents, his grandfather Mangeram Sehrawat took care of him.

Training at Chhatrasal Stadium 

Aman trains at Delhi’s prestigious Chhatrasal Stadium, which is known for producing many Olympic medal winners. Aman’s achievements include gold medals in various championships, which speaks of his promising career in wrestling.

Born on 16 July 2003, Aman Sehrawat came into the limelight after winning the bronze medal in the 57 kg category at the 2022 Asian Games. In April 2023, he managed to win the gold medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Sehrawat made his mark with his stellar performance, winning gold medals at the 2024 Zagreb and 2022 Almaty Grand Prix and the 2022 Pontevedra U23 World Championships and staking his claim for the Olympics. 

Parents died in childhood

Aman’s parents died when he was only 12 years old. After which his grandfather took care of him. Aman’s father’s dream was that he would win a medal for India by wrestling. This was the reason that from the age of 13, Aman started training at Chhatrasal Stadium. Chhatrasal Stadium became Aman’s second home. Aman used to practice wrestling here day and night. The stadium which he made his second home. India has got four Olympic medal winners in that stadium – Sushil Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt, Bajrang Punia and Ravi Dahiya have been successful in winning medals for India in the Olympics. While practicing at Chhatrasal Stadium, Aman dreamed of winning a medal in the Olympics. 

Training received from coach Lalit Kumar

 Aman found solace in wrestling, a sport he began training in under the guidance of coach Lalit Kumar. His dedication to the sport soon paid off when he won his first national championship title in 2021. Since then, Aman’s career has progressed. In 2022, he won a bronze medal in the 57kg category at the Asian Games, followed by a gold medal at the 2023 Asian Wrestling Championships held in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Dream of winning a gold medal in Olympics

In an interview given to NDTV, Aman has told that his dream is to win a gold medal in the Olympics. Aman is currently 21 years old. He will have ample opportunity to fulfill his dream.
