Censor Board Forces Major Cuts! Kangana’s ‘Emergency’ Slashes 3 Scenes, 10 Edits Before Release

Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency faces strict censor board scrutiny, with three scenes deleted and ten additional changes required before its release. The controversial film's content has sparked intense reactions.

Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’: Himachal Pradesh MP from Mandi and actress Kangana Ranaut’s film Emergency has been given a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). CBFC has objected to many scenes in this film, due to which this film will now be released in a few weeks after many cuts and changes.

CBFC has given instructions to delete 3 scenes from this film. It has given strict instructions that 10 changes have to be made in the film before releasing it.

Sikh organizations had raised objections about the film, due to which CBFC had withheld the certificate. Kangana had said that due to not getting the certificate, the film could not be released on its scheduled time.

After receiving the certificate from the Censor Board, no reaction has come from either the Sikh organizations or Kangana.

Censor Board’s instructions to producer and director

  • The censor board has asked to show facts on the controversial statements shown in Emergency. CBFC has said that the makers will have to present the sources of the derogatory remarks made by former US President Richard Milhous Nixon against Indian women and the statement of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill that Indians breed like rabbits.
  • The censor board has sent a list of 10 changes to Manikarnika Films Pvt Ltd. Most of these scenes are those to which objections have been raised by Sikh organizations.
  • In a scene of the film, Pakistani soldiers are shown attacking Bangladeshi refugees. In this, they are shown attacking children and women. CBFC has also expressed its objection to this scene. The board has asked the makers to change this scene from the film or delete it completely.

Thousands of Sikhs protested against the Emergency in Mumbai

Kangana had shared the trailer of this film on her social media account, the film was also going to be released on 6 September. Sikh organizations have started protesting against it. Sikh organizations allege that an attempt was made to show Sikhs as terrorists in this film.

One character has also been made Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala. Sikh organizations believe that Operation Blue Star has also been filmed in the movie, which was carried out to eliminate Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala.

Thousands of Sikhs gathered outside 4 Bungalow Gurudwara in Mumbai and raised slogans. They threw chappals on the posters of Kangana Ranaut and expressed their anger against the film. People of the Sikh community said that they will not allow this film to be released in Mumbai’s theatres under any circumstances. They claimed that if the administration does not pay heed to their demands, they will protest against it on a large scale.

The matter reached the court, next hearing on September 18​​​​​​

After the protest, the matter of giving certificate to the film reached the court. The hearing is going on in Bombay High Court. The next date of hearing is 18 September. The matter was also heard on 4 September. In which Bombay High Court had directed the Censor Board to clear the objections regarding the film and give certificate by 18 September.

U/A certificate means ‘unrestricted with caution’. Such films require parental guidance for viewers below 2 years of age. These films can be watched with family, but children need guidance from adults.
