Unit-8200 did not stop here. The very next day of the pager attack in Lebanon, this Israeli agency carried out a walkie-talkie attack on Hezbollah. 14 people died in these attacks while more than 300 were injured. So far, news of 12 people dying in pager attacks has also come to light.
It was believed that Mossad carried out these attacks but the news agency quoted its Western source as saying that Israel’s cyber war agency ‘Unit-8200’ is carrying out these attacks on Hezbollah. However, Israel has not officially taken responsibility for these attacks.
The plan for the pager attack was made a year ago
Well, it is Israel’s habit that it does not formally take responsibility for even the biggest attacks. Earlier, even after killing top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, Israel did not take responsibility for it.
The report said that first Mossad had fitted a small amount of explosives inside 5,000 pagers ordered by Hezbollah as part of an operation. Then Israel’s cyber agency ‘Unit 8200’ carried out these attacks. This agency is a military unit, which is not a part of the spy agency. It was told that this operation against Hezbollah took more than a year.
Israel’s Unit-8200 reports to PM Office
The report claimed that ‘Unit 8200’ reports directly to Israel’s PM Office. It has close coordination with Mossad. Before carrying out the pager blasts, it was tested extensively. It was considered how the explosive could be fitted inside the pager.
Later, many trials were conducted in Israel itself regarding the explosion. Israel Defense sources say that the members of Unit 8200 are some of the best and brightest personnel in the Israeli army, serving in a unit at the center of Israel’s defense capabilities.
