Modi Speaks to Israeli PM Netanyahu: Reaffirms India’s Commitment to Peace, Declares No Place for Terror in the World

Amid escalating Israel-Lebanon tensions, PM Modi urged Israeli PM Netanyahu for peace, stressing no place for terrorism, regional stability, and safe hostage release, after Hezbollah chief Nasrallah’s death.

PM Modi dialed Netanyahu: Amidst the Israel-Lebanon tension, Prime Minister Modi spoke to Israeli PM Netanyahu on phone on Monday, 30 September. He himself gave the information on social media.

During the conversation, PM Modi said that there is no place for terrorism in the world. It is important to stop regional tensions and ensure the safe release of all hostages. India is committed to supporting efforts for the early restoration of peace and stability.

This conversation has taken place at a time when tensions have increased in West Asia after the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. More than 800 people have been killed so far in Israeli attacks in Lebanon.

This is the second phone conversation between the two leaders in 45 days

Earlier, the two leaders had a phone conversation on 16 August. At that time too, PM Modi had asked the Israeli Prime Minister to end the war with Hamas through talks and diplomacy. He also stressed on the immediate release of all hostages and ceasefire.

Tension between Israel and Hezbollah has increased in the last 2 months

On July 28, Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel. 12 Israelis were killed in this attack. This was Hezbollah’s biggest attack since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war. Hezbollah had targeted a football field in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. In response to this attack, Israel carried out an airstrike in Lebanon on July 30. Hezbollah commander Haj Mohsin alias Fuad Shukar was killed in this airstrike.

After this, on September 17, there were blasts in pagers in Lebanon, in which 12 people died and thousands were injured. On September 18, the day after the pager blast, there were blasts in walkie-talkies, in which 27 people died. After the pager and walkie-talkie blasts, Israel carried out an airstrike on Lebanon on September 20, killing 45 people. Since then, Israel has fired thousands of missiles on Lebanon, killing more than 800 people.

Israel prepares to land troops in Lebanon

Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Galant has asked the army to be ready. According to the Times of Israel, he told the soldiers, “The elimination of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah is a very important step. We will make full use of the capabilities we have in the future.

While talking to the soldiers, Galant also talked about the use of military capabilities in Lebanon. He said that we have faith in you (soldiers), you are capable of carrying out any task. Israel has deployed tanks in the areas bordering Lebanon on Sunday.

Hezbollah’s entire leadership eliminated

Israel has eliminated the entire leadership of Hezbollah within 2 months. On 27 September, Hezbollah’s headquarters were attacked with 80 tons of bombs. Chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed in this. On 30 July, Hezbollah’s second most senior leader Fuad Shukar was killed in an airstrike on Lebanon. The very next day, on 31 July, Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was also killed in an attack on Iran. Now there is no senior leader left in the leadership of Hezbollah. Whereas in the leadership of Hamas, only Yahya Sinwar is alive, who is present in Gaza.
