Can we write on the shop that ‘goods sold will not be returned’?
When you go to the market to buy something, you will often see many such shops where it is written that the sold goods will not be returned. People think before buying anything from such shops because they know that if there is some problem with the goods or they do not like the goods later, they will not be able to return it. But is it legally valid for a shopkeeper to write on his shop that ‘the sold goods will not be returned’?
Have you ever asked yourself this question? If not, then we will tell you the answer. No shopkeeper can write ‘goods sold will not be returned’ on his shop. Doing so is a violation of the rules made under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The shopkeeper can be punished for doing so. He may also have to pay a fine.

If you buy something from a shop and you don’t like it, when you go to return it, the shopkeeper points you towards a board in the shop which says ‘Goods sold will not be returned’. So you should not keep quiet. You can complain about such shopkeepers to the consumer department.
If you want, you can lodge a complaint about this in the consumer court of your district. Or if you want, you can also register your complaint by visiting the National Consumer Helpline https://consumerhelpline.gov.in/public/ . The shopkeeper doing this will not only be fined. But strict action can also be taken against him.
