The Central Government has launched Aarogya Setu 2.0. Originally created to assist people during the COVID-19 pandemic, this app has now been revamped with a completely new look and functionality. With Aarogya Setu 2.0, you can access various essential health services—such as medical reports, medication details, fitness records, health insurance information, and hospital or ambulance services—all in one place. Let’s explore how the new app works and the features it offers:
What is Aarogya Setu 2.0?
Aarogya Setu 2.0 is designed to serve as a digital health record for you and your family. Simply put, your medical reports, test results, treatment details, and other vital health information will be securely stored in one location. You can easily view this information whenever needed and share it with your doctor.
Features Offered: Digital Medical Reports
If you have test reports in PDF, photo, or any other digital format, you can upload them directly to the app. The app compiles these reports to create a comprehensive personal health record. This eliminates the hassle of searching for past medical history and makes it easier for doctors to provide treatment.
Tracking Fitness and Health
The app goes beyond just storing medical records; it also allows you to track daily health activities, such as your step count. Additionally, you can monitor key health metrics like calorie intake, heart rate, and blood sugar levels. If you use a smartwatch or fitness band, you can link that data to the app as well. You can also set personal health goals and configure reminders.
Medication Reminders
People often forget to take their medication on time. Aarogya Setu 2.0 includes a medication reminder feature. You can input details—either based on a doctor’s prescription or your own schedule—such as the medicine’s name, timing, dosage, and frequency of intake. The app will then remind you to take your medication at the scheduled time.
Easily find hospitals, doctors, and ambulances
If you need a hospital, clinic, doctor, or diagnostic center, the app makes it easy to locate nearby facilities. Additionally, the app offers:
- Access to ambulance details when needed.
- Information on blood availability via e-RaktKosh.
- An easy way to find hospitals empanelled under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY).
PM-JAY Wallet: Health insurance details in one place
You can also view information related to PM-JAY and your private health insurance within the app. It allows you to check:
- Your total insurance coverage.
- The amount spent so far.
- Your remaining balance.
- This eliminates the need to repeatedly check various websites or documents.
Records for the entire family in a single account
Aarogya Setu 2.0 includes a ‘Family Management’ feature. This allows you to link the profiles of your parents, spouse, and children to a single account. Consequently, there is no need to create separate logins for each family member, and the entire family’s health information can be managed in one place.
My Consent: No one can view data without your permission
The government states that your health information will only be shared with your explicit consent. If a hospital, doctor, or other entity wishes to view your health records, your approval is mandatory. You can also track within the app whom you have granted permission to, whose requests are pending, and whose permissions have expired. In short, you retain full control over your health data.
If you wish to manage medical reports, medication records, fitness data, health insurance details, and hospital information in a single app rather than across multiple locations, Aarogya Setu 2.0 could prove to be very useful for you.
