A special device was spotted on PV Sindhu forehead; it has a strong connection to a Zomato co-founder—find out how it works.

PV Sindhu was spotted wearing a device on her forehead while competing at the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi. Named ‘Temple’, this small wearable is attached to one side of the forehead. It is designed to track changes in blood flow to the brain. The device has also garnered attention because it was developed by Zomato co-founder Deepinder Goyal. Goyal had previously discussed ‘Temple’ on Raj Shamani’s ‘Figuring Out’ podcast, where the wearable—and its focus on brain health—generated significant interest. However, this is not the first time Sindhu has been seen wearing ‘Temple’; she was also spotted with the device earlier this year in April during the Thomas and Uber Cup (the world team badminton championships).

A Small Wearable, Yet a Tracking Powerhouse

‘Temple’ is a compact wearable worn on the side of the forehead. It is designed to continuously monitor cerebral blood flow and other signals related to brain function. According to available information, the device tracks cerebral blood flow, oxygen levels, cognitive load, and entropy in real-time. Entropy is described here as a measure of metabolic or sympathetic demand.

Understanding Brain Activity During Various Activities

Its objective is to help users understand the state of their brain and body during different activities.
For athletes, this could mean gaining additional data regarding training stress, recovery, sleep, and focus. While standard fitness trackers primarily focus on metrics like heart rate or body movement, ‘Temple’ focuses more directly on the brain.

The underlying concept is that fluctuations in the volume of blood reaching the brain can provide valuable insights into fatigue, concentration, and other aspects of neurological function. Researchers have traditionally studied these signals using large imaging machines in controlled environments. Temple is working to bring this type of monitoring into everyday life.

This device is currently experimental and not available for purchase by the general public. Temple is offering early access for now, with a full launch expected in the coming months. A report claimed that the wearable could be priced at around ₹72,000. PV Sindhu is one of India’s biggest badminton stars. She became the first Indian to win the BWF World Championships and the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals. She has won a total of six medals in this major badminton tournament.
