Bridge Collapsed in Bihar: The bridge built on the Bakra river in Araria district of Bihar collapsed on Tuesday. This bridge, built at a cost of Rs 12 crore, was not even inaugurated yet. Local MLA Vijay Kumar Mandal has called it a victim of corruption. It is said that the bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 12 crore on the Padariya Ghat of Bakra river located in Sikti block.
On Tuesday, two to three pillars of the bridge sank into the river and the bridge collapsed. People from the bridge construction agency have reached the spot and the administration team has also arrived. This bridge was to connect Sikati and Kursakanta blocks.
It is said that the local BJP MLA Vijay Kumar Mandal had made a lot of efforts for the construction of the bridge. On receiving the information about the collapse of the bridge, he also reached the spot.
He told IANS that this bridge was completely a victim of corruption. This bridge would have been a means of connecting two blocks directly, but it sank in the river even before its inauguration. This bridge was built by the Rural Works Department. It was constructed by digging pillars on the ground itself. The approach road was also not built yet.
