President Draupadi Murmu Speech: Today is the first day of the budget session of the 18th Lok Sabha. President Draupadi Murmu delivered a 59-minute address in the joint session of both the houses of Parliament, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. President Murmu started her speech by expressing grief over the Kumbh accident. She said- Honorable members, Maha Kumbh is also going on at this time. I express grief over the accident that happened there.

The President further praised the schemes of the Central Government. He said- 70+ elderly people got the benefit of Ayushman, loan limit for small businessmen was doubled. Also, the target of 3 crore new houses will be achieved soon.
The government is working at 3 times faster speed. Today the country is seeing major decisions and policies being implemented at an extraordinary speed. Women, farmers and youth are getting top priority.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media outside the House. PM said- Many historic bills will be introduced in this session. Many important decisions will be taken in this session to ensure that every woman gets a respectable life. We will reform, perform and transform.

- January 31: President Droupadi Murmu will address the joint session of Parliament. Economic Survey to be presented.
- February 1: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to present the Union Budget for the eighth consecutive year.
- February 3, 4, and 6: Discussion on the President’s address and the motion of thanks.
- February 6: Prime Minister Modi will respond to the motion of thanks in the Rajya Sabha.
Second Phase:
March 10 (Monday) to April 4 (Friday)
26 days, 18 meetings
- March 10: Discussions and approvals for the demands of grants for various ministries and departments.

President’s speech Highlights…
1. The government is working on ensuring fair prices for farmers’ crops and increasing their income. 332 million tonnes of grain was produced. MSP of Kharib-Rabi crops has been increased. Three times the amount has been spent on the purchase of coarse grains. 109 advanced varieties have been handed over to farmers for good yield. The scope of the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund will be increased. Work has been done to increase the production of edible oils and tendu. A national mission is being run for natural farming.
2. A scheme was started to help students in higher education. They will also be given internships in 500 companies. A new law has been implemented to prevent paper leaks. The government has approved Rs 26 thousand crore for the Gram Sadak Yojana. 17 Vande Bharats have been added in the last 6 months.
3. We are making efforts to ensure that the poor and middle class get a dignified life. 25 crore people of the country are defeating poverty and are moving ahead in their lives today. They have created a platform for the new middle class which is brimming with new energy. To honour government employees, it has been decided to constitute the Eighth Pay Commission. It has been decided to give 50 per cent fixed pension under the Unified Pension Scheme to lakhs of Central Government employees.
4. Today, everyone is supporting the tribals in the development of the country, so we are realizing the full potential of the country. Dalits, deprived and tribal society are getting the benefit of this. We have given priority to the welfare of the tribal society which was neglected. Tribal children are being educated in more than 770 Eklavya schools. 30 new medical colleges have been opened. 5 crore people have been screened for health.
5. On Infrastructure Modern infrastructure gives the country new self-confidence. We have set many milestones. 10 years ago the infrastructure budget was 2 lakh crores, now it is more than 11 lakh crores. The foundation of a deep water mega port has been laid. It will be one of the top 10 ports in the world. The Udhampur, Srinagar-Baramulla rail project has been completed. The country will be connected by rail line from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The world’s highest bridge, the Rail Cable Bridge, has been built.
6. On health service, cancer medicines have been exempted from custom duty for cancer patients. 9 crore women have been screened for cervical cancer. As much effort was made on physical infrastructure, as much effort was made on social infrastructure. Family expenses are constantly decreasing due to hospitals, treatment and services. One lakh 75 thousand Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been built.
7. Today India is an important global player in the field of banking technology . The launch of 5G in India is an example of this. We are impressed by the success of UPI technology. More than 50% of real-time digital transactions are taking place. Even the smallest shopkeeper in India is taking advantage of this facility. Facilities like banking services, UPI are available. Dozens of facilities have been made available in more than 5 lakh commerce service centers. DG Locker has provided a facility to show your important documents anywhere and anytime.
