Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) : The Central Government has issued a notification to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has already expressed her protest regarding this and has made it clear that if this causes any problem to any community, she will protest.

1. The CAA law provides for granting Indian citizenship to Hindus, Jains, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Parsis who entered India from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan on or before December 31, 2014, after five years of residence here.
2. The Narendra Modi government at the Center has issued the notification of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The President’s approval was received after the bill was passed by Parliament in 2019. Now it has been implemented.
3. If we understand in simple language, all the minorities from India’s neighboring countries Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India on or before December 31, 2014, will now get Indian citizenship. In those countries, only those who are counted as minority (non-Muslim) will get citizenship here.
4. There were massive protests in several states after the Rajya Sabha passed the CAA on December 11, 2019, in which agitators clashed with security forces, prompting the administration to impose curfew in several towns and cities. Had to be forced.
5. Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier said that the CAA rules will be notified and implemented before the Lok Sabha elections. West Bengal’s Bangaon Lok Sabha seat MP and Union Minister Shantanu Thakur had also announced that the Citizenship Act will be implemented before the Lok Sabha elections .
