Delhi Police arrested a cab driver within six hours in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in the Mehrauli area of the national capital.
According to police, the accused was identified and apprehended following a swift investigation involving CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and local intelligence inputs. The victim’s body was recovered near the Mehrauli-Gurgaon border.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act. Senior police officials said the accused is being questioned and further investigation is underway.
Police officials stated that the quick arrest was made possible through coordinated efforts by multiple teams. Forensic experts have also examined the crime scene, and evidence is being collected to establish the sequence of events.
The incident has sparked concern over the safety of children in the capital, with authorities assuring strict action in the case.
