Alert for CG Government Employees: Providing significant relief to eligible government employees, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to grant additional time to choose between the ‘Time Scale Pay’ scheme and the ‘Promotion Pay Scale’ scheme. According to an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), eligible employees can now submit their option until July 31, 2026. The government has clarified that this deadline extension is a one-time measure, and no further opportunities will be provided thereafter. The state government noted that various employee unions and officers’ associations had requested an extension of the deadline for making this choice. Many employees had appealed to the government for more time, citing their inability to complete the necessary procedures by the original deadline. After considering these demands and representations, the government decided to extend the deadline to July 31, 2026.
Employees eligible for the benefits of this order
This facility applies only to government employees appointed prior to April 1, 2026. According to the order, Assistant Teachers (teaching cadre), Assistant Veterinary Field Officers, and Sub-Engineers from various construction departments fall within the scope of this decision. These employees must choose between the Time Scale Pay and the Promotion Pay Scale, in accordance with their service conditions.
Forest Rangers (Forest Department)
These employees are also required to select either the Time Scale Pay or the Promotion Pay Scale, taking into account their service conditions and future salary benefits.
Option provided following the June 9 order
It is noteworthy that through a circular issued on June 9, 2026, the General Administration Department had decided to merge the existing promotion pay scale systems—which were in effect across various departments—into the Finance Department’s prevailing time scale pay system. Under that same order, eligible employees were given the opportunity to choose between the two schemes. No Opportunity After July 31
The government has clarified in the order that no opportunity to submit an option will be provided after July 31, 2026. Furthermore, once an option has been selected, it cannot be changed. All other terms and conditions stipulated in the circular dated June 9, 2026, will remain in effect.
Order Not Applicable to All Employees
The General Administration Department has also clarified that this decision will apply only to employees belonging to notified and eligible cadres. Government employees from other departments or cadres will not fall within the scope of this order; for them, the previously existing rules will continue to apply. This government decision will bring relief to employees who were unable to submit their options on time. They will now have a final opportunity until July 31 to make a crucial decision regarding their service and future pay scale.
