Bastar Fighters Recruitment: A major opportunity to secure a job in the police department is coming up for the youth of Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division. The government is preparing for the direct recruitment of 4,600 constables for the ‘Bastar Fighters’ force. A key feature of this recruitment drive is that candidates possessing knowledge of local languages and dialects will be awarded 20 bonus marks. The Home Department has finalized the recruitment rules, and an official advertisement is expected to be issued by the Police Headquarters soon.
The primary objective of this recruitment is to provide employment to the local youth of Bastar while simultaneously strengthening the region’s security infrastructure. Special emphasis has been placed on local candidates during the recruitment process, taking into account Bastar’s geographical conditions, local culture, and languages.
Mandatory Local Residency in the Respective District
To apply for the Bastar Fighters constable recruitment, candidates must be local residents of the respective district. In other words, local youth from the Bastar division will be given priority over candidates from outside districts in this special recruitment drive. Specific provisions regarding educational qualifications have also been made for different categories. The minimum qualification for General category candidates is a 10th-grade pass. Meanwhile, offering significant relief to Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, those who have passed the 5th grade will also be considered eligible. Additionally, special opportunities will be extended to candidates from families affected by Naxalism in Naxal-hit areas and families residing in relief camps. Candidates from all categories belonging to such families will be eligible to apply if they have passed the 5th grade.
Candidates Aged 18 to 28 Years Eligible
The minimum age for recruitment has been set at 18 years, and the maximum at 28 years. However, reserved categories will receive age relaxation in accordance with the rules. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and OBC categories will be granted a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit. Women, ex-servicemen, Nagar Sainiks (Home Guards), and contractual employees will also receive the benefit of additional age relaxation as per government regulations.
Selection Process to Carry 200 Marks
The selection process for the Bastar Fighters recruitment will carry a total of 200 marks. Candidates will first be required to undergo a physical efficiency test worth 100 marks. The physical test will comprise activities such as the long jump, high jump, shot put, a 100-meter sprint, and an 800-meter run. Candidates from the general category must secure a minimum of 60 percent marks in the physical efficiency test, whereas a minimum of 50 percent marks has been set for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and OBC categories. A merit list will be prepared based on performance in the physical test, and eligible candidates will proceed to the next stage of the selection process.
Questions on Local Geography and Culture in the Written Exam
Candidates shortlisted based on merit will be required to take a written examination. This test will cover general knowledge, reasoning, and arithmetic, alongside questions pertaining to the local geography and culture of Bastar. A distinctive feature of the recruitment process is that candidates proficient in the local language and dialect will be awarded 20 bonus marks. Youth with knowledge of Gondi, Halbi, and other local languages prevalent in the region stand to gain a direct advantage from this provision. Subsequently, candidates numbering three times the available vacancies will be called for an interview carrying 20 marks. The final merit list will be compiled based on the marks obtained across the various stages of the selection process.
Special Reservation for Women and Home Guards
The recruitment rules include a provision for 30 percent reservation for local women. Additionally, Home Guards who have completed three years of service will be entitled to 25 percent reservation. A 10 percent reservation quota has also been allocated for ex-servicemen. These measures are expected to provide opportunities not only to local youth but also to candidates with prior experience in the security and service sectors.
