CG College Admission: College admission dates extended in Chhattisgarh; applications can now be submitted until this date.

CG College Admission: There is welcome news for students seeking admission to colleges and universities in Chhattisgarh. The Department of Higher Education has extended the deadline for college admissions to August 31, 2026. Previously, the admission process at the principal’s level was scheduled until July 31, with admissions permissible until August 14 only with the Vice-Chancellor’s special permission. Now, following the expiration of the initial deadline, the Department of Higher Education has issued an order extending the admission period. This provides another opportunity for students who had missed out on securing admission to colleges and universities.

Admissions Open Until August 31

According to the new order, students can now apply for admission to the state’s colleges and universities until August 31. Notably, no separate merit list will be issued for admissions during this phase; instead, students will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to seat availability. The Department of Higher Education has informed all relevant universities and colleges in the state regarding this decision. This move brings significant relief to students who were unable to secure admission within the previously stipulated timeframe for various reasons.

Potential Benefit for 23,000 Students

The decision to extend the admission deadline comes just as the Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education has released the results of the second examinations for Classes 10 and 12. A total of 34,493 students appeared for the Class 12 second examination, with approximately 23,000 successfully passing. Following the result announcement, these students faced uncertainty regarding higher education admissions. The extension of the admission deadline grants them additional time to secure a college seat.

Limited Time Between Results and Admission

Most students appearing for the second examination fell into the ‘supplementary’ category. This group included students who had passed the main examination held in March but chose to retake the exam because they were dissatisfied with their marks. As the results for the second examination were released on Thursday, these students had very little time left to complete the college admission process. Many students were unable to secure admission on time for this reason. Now, these students have found relief following the extension of the deadline by the Department of Higher Education.

Relief for Colleges with Vacant Seats

The extension of the admission deadline will also benefit colleges that have not yet filled all their seats. Admissions against vacant seats can now be granted until August 31. Thanks to the ‘first-come, first-served’ system, students will not have to wait for a merit list; eligible students will be granted direct admission based on seat availability.
