CG Education News: Students in Chhattisgarh will receive ₹1,000 every month; apply for the scholarship before October 23.

CG Education News: Students from economically weaker families in Chhattisgarh have the opportunity to receive a scholarship to continue their education. The application process for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) scheme—for the 2026-27 academic session—is currently underway. Eligible students studying in Class 8 can submit their applications until October 23. Under this scheme, selected students will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000 from Class 9 through Class 12. A total quota of 2,246 students has been allocated for Chhattisgarh.

Administered by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, this scheme aims to provide financial assistance to students from economically weaker backgrounds, preventing them from dropping out of school and encouraging them to continue their education. Eligible students can apply—free of charge—either online or offline, following the prescribed procedure.

Who can apply for the NMMS scholarship?

Students currently enrolled in Class 8 in government schools, government-aided schools, or schools run by local bodies in Chhattisgarh are eligible to apply for the NMMS examination. Applicants must have secured the minimum required marks in Class 7 and meet specific family income criteria.

The key eligibility conditions for the scheme are as follows:

Class: The student must be enrolled in Class 8 for the 2026-27 academic session.

Minimum Marks: A minimum of 55% marks in Class 7 is required. A 5% relaxation is provided for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST).

Family Income: The annual income of the student’s parents or guardians must not exceed ₹3.50 lakh.

Type of School: The student must be studying in a government school, a government-aided school, or a school run by a local body.

Before applying, students and parents should carefully review all eligibility criteria to ensure that no errors occur during the application process. Applications open until October 23; examination to be held on December 12

The NMMS scholarship examination for the 2026-27 academic session will be held on December 12. The deadline for submitting applications is October 23. Interested and eligible students may apply either online or offline within the stipulated timeframe.

The examination will assess students’ intellectual ability and academic aptitude. It will consist of two separate question papers, with a combined total of 180 marks. In addition to preparing for the exam, students must ensure that the application process is completed on time.

Monthly scholarship for students in classes 9th to 12th

Under the NMMS scheme, selected students will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000 from class 9th through 12th. Consequently, based on eligibility and the scheme’s guidelines, a student could receive a total of ₹48,000 in financial assistance over four years.

For the state of Chhattisgarh, a quota of 2,246 students has been set; selection will be based on the examination results and the applicable rules. This financial support can assist students from economically disadvantaged families in covering the costs of their continued education.

Students who wish to avail themselves of this scheme must submit their applications before the October 23 deadline. It is also important to begin exam preparation and ensure adherence to all application-related guidelines.
