CG Elections 2026: Major update regarding the voter list in Chhattisgarh; names can now be added until this date.

Raipur: There is good news for voters preparing for the urban body elections in Chhattisgarh. The State Election Commission has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections—which includes adding or removing names from the electoral roll, or correcting inaccurate information. Eligible voters can now submit their applications until November 3, 2026, instead of the original deadline of October 30.

Deadline extended due to rain and cyclone

The State Election Commission has taken this decision in light of the difficulties faced by residents in districts affected by persistent rainfall and Cyclone ‘Arnab’. Previously, the deadline for filing claims and objections regarding the electoral roll was set for October 30. Voters have now been granted an additional three days to submit their applications.

Resolution of claims and objections by November 6

According to the Commission’s schedule, all claims and objections received by November 3 will be resolved by November 6, 2026. Subsequently, the final electoral roll will be published on November 30, 2026.

Voters in urban bodies where general elections or by-elections are scheduled for December can use this process to verify their names and personal details.

How to check your name in the electoral roll before voting

The State Election Commission has urged all eligible citizens—especially the youth—to verify their names and other information in the electoral roll. Voters can visit designated locations, as specified by the District Election Officer, to review the electoral roll free of charge.

If a name is missing from the list, a claim can be filed to have it added. Similarly, if there is an error in one’s name, address, or other details, an application for correction can be submitted. The Commission’s objective is to ensure that no eligible voter is deprived of their right to vote and that no one faces any inconvenience on the day of the election.
