CG Gang-rape Case: 13-year-old girl gang-raped; kept the trauma hidden for a month out of fear

CG Gangrape Case: A serious case of gangrape involving a 13-year-old minor girl has come to light in the Vidhan Sabha police station area of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. It is alleged that two minors, finding the girl alone, committed the crime and threatened to kill her if she told anyone. Driven by this fear, the victim remained silent for about a month. Later, when her health deteriorated, she disclosed the entire incident to her mother. Following the complaint, the police took both accused into custody and sent them to a juvenile observation home.

According to the police, the incident reportedly took place on September 25. The victim, an eighth-grade student, had gone to visit a friend. Her friend was not at home, but the friend’s brother and another minor were present. It is alleged that, finding her alone, the two minors threatened the girl and subjected her to sexual assault. They further threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.

It is reported that one of the accused has dropped out of school, while the other is a ninth-grade student. They are 14 and 16 years old, respectively. The accused and the victim reside in the same residential colony, and their families were acquainted. The parents of both parties work as daily wage laborers and typically leave for work in the morning.

Following the incident, the terrified girl returned home but did not tell anyone. In the last week of October, her health suddenly began to decline, and she started experiencing dizziness. When her family members asked about the cause of her distress, she revealed the incident to her mother.

Subsequently, the victim’s family approached the Vidhan Sabha police station to file a complaint. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections, including provisions of the POCSO Act. Both minor accused were taken into custody and produced before a juvenile court, which ordered them to be sent to a juvenile observation home. The police are currently conducting further legal proceedings in the case.
