CG Land Registry: Registering land in a wife’s name has become cheaper in Chhattisgarh, with a 50% fee concession available; get the full details.

CG Land Registry: A surge in property transactions is being observed in Chhattisgarh, with a significant rise in the number of land and house registrations during the current financial year. In the state, 160,981 properties were registered up to September 8 of the 2026-27 financial year. In comparison, 142,187 registrations took place during the same period in the previous financial year. This represents an increase of 18,794 documents, or a growth of 13.2 percent. Registration figures showed a 30 percent increase in July and a 38 percent rise between August 1 and August 31. Under a rule implemented in May, a 50 percent concession on registration fees is granted for property purchases made in the name of women.

Significant Rise in Property Registration
The primary drivers behind the surge in property purchases in the state are the concessions offered on registration rates and the simplification of procedures. Both genuine homebuyers and investors have increased their investments in property. Within just four months of introducing the 50 percent registration fee concession for properties purchased in women’s names, over 40,886 registration documents have been executed in their names. This incentive has encouraged the registration of land and houses in the names of women.

Fee Concessions and Procedural Reforms
The state government has also provided relief regarding family-related deeds. Registration fees for gift deeds, relinquishment deeds, and partition deeds executed within a family have been reduced to ₹500. Additionally, soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their widows have been granted a 25 percent concession on stamp duty. Through these various provisions, citizens have received registration fee concessions totaling approximately ₹1,100 crore. Facilities are also being provided for people to complete registrations from the comfort of their homes. Over the past two and a half years, a process for automatic mutation alongside registration has been implemented, resulting in the completion of more than 2.78 lakh automatic mutations to date. Special Preparations for the Festive Season

Preparations have been ramped up at registration offices in anticipation of the festive season. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival begins on September 14, and property transactions are expected to surge further during the subsequent period covering Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali. Arrangements will be made to facilitate property registrations even on public holidays during these occasions. Pushpendra Meena, Inspector General (Registration and Stamps), Raipur, stated that special instructions have been issued to all registration offices to ensure that registration work remains uninterrupted throughout the festive season.
