CG Post-Matric Scholarship: The Vishnu Deo Sai government of Chhattisgarh is continuously taking effective measures to shape the future of students. As part of this initiative, the process for online registration, approval, and disbursement under the Post-Matric Scholarship scheme for the 2026-27 academic session has commenced for students belonging to Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) pursuing higher education. According to guidelines issued by the Tribal Development Department, eligible students studying in all government and non-government colleges, universities, engineering, medical, and nursing colleges, polytechnics, and ITI institutes across the state will benefit from the scheme.
New Applications Accepted from August 1st
The renewal application process for the 2026-27 academic session began on June 20, 2026, while new applications will be accepted starting August 1, 2026. By streamlining the application process and making it time-bound, the state government has set a target to disburse the scholarship amount by January 2027, ensuring students receive timely financial assistance and can continue their studies without interruption.
What are the Criteria?
Under the scheme, the annual income limit for the parents of SC and ST students is set at ₹2.50 lakh, while for OBC students, it is set at ₹1 lakh. Eligible students must submit a permanent caste certificate, domicile certificate, mark sheet from the previous year, and other necessary documents at the time of application.
Understanding the Objective
The Sai government aims to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder the education of any talented student and that every youth gets the opportunity to progress according to their potential. This initiative is a significant effort to empower economically disadvantaged students and make them self-reliant by removing obstacles in their path to higher education. The scholarship amount will be deposited directly into the students’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). This will enhance transparency in the process and ensure students receive the funds without delay. To make the scholarship process more secure and effective starting from the 2026-27 academic year, One-Time Registration (OTR) via the National Scholarship Portal has been made mandatory. Additionally, a biometric authentication system has been implemented for heads of institutions and scholarship in-charges at new institutions. This measure is considered significant in ensuring that the benefits of these schemes reach eligible students in a timely manner and with complete transparency.
