CG News: The General Administration Department (GAD) of the Chhattisgarh Government has issued important guidelines regarding the disposal of pending disciplinary cases following the death of government servants. The order issued by the Secretariat clarifies that if departmental or disciplinary proceedings are pending against a government employee and the employee passes away during this period, such cases will be resolved in accordance with the prescribed procedures and service rules.
New Guidelines Issued by the Ministry
An order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) states that disciplinary proceedings pending against an employee at the time of their death shall not be kept pending indefinitely in the absence of clear rules. Each case will be examined based on service rules and the specific circumstances involved. All departments, Heads of Departments, and concerned officials have been directed to ensure compliance with these instructions.
Relief for Dependents
The government acknowledges that in many instances, departmental inquiries remaining pending for years after an employee’s death delay the disbursement of pension, gratuity, and other service-related benefits to the family. These new guidelines aim to minimize such unnecessary delays, enabling dependents to receive their statutory entitlements in a timely manner.
Directives for Time-Bound Action by Departments
The General Administration Department has instructed all administrative departments, Heads of Departments, and competent authorities to review such pending cases and take time-bound action in accordance with the new guidelines. In cases where departmental inquiries are to be concluded, orders must be issued as per the rules, and the necessary documentation processed promptly.
Administrative Process to Become More Transparent
According to experts, the new directives will make the departmental disciplinary process clearer and more transparent. This will facilitate the resolution of long-pending cases and reduce unnecessary legal disputes within the departments.
Orders Sent to All Departments
The GAD has circulated copies of the issued directives to all government departments, Heads of Departments, and relevant administrative officials. Departments are now required to review such pending cases within their jurisdiction and take necessary action in line with the new instructions. This government decision is viewed as a significant step towards administrative reform; it promises to make departmental procedures clearer and more effective, while paving the way for the dependents of deceased employees to receive timely justice and statutory benefits.
