Bijapur: Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district have achieved a major success during an operation against Maoists. A joint team comprising the district police, the 196th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the 204th CoBRA unit recovered 711 BGL (Barrel Grenade Launcher) shells from the forest area near KG Hills during a search operation. The Maoists had hidden these explosives in the forest.
According to reports, the search operation was launched in the forests surrounding the Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Tadapala—within the jurisdiction of the Usur police station—following credible intelligence. During the operation, a large cache of BGL shells was discovered near KG Hills, approximately 1.5 kilometers northwest of the Tadapala FOB. Adhering to all safety protocols, the security forces secured and seized the shells.

Appeal to Avoid Visiting Hilly Areas
Following the recovery [of explosives/items], security forces have urged civilians to refrain from visiting Karregutta and the surrounding hilly areas for the time being. According to security agencies, there remains a risk that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) or other explosive materials could still be present in the area, posing a threat to life and property.
Security forces stated that a de-mining operation will be conducted in the region as part of a planned future initiative. This operation will involve identifying and neutralizing any potential IEDs or explosive materials. In the meantime, the public is advised to remain vigilant and avoid traveling through forest and hilly areas.
