CG School Holidays 2026: With the onset of the festive season, significant news has emerged for school students in Chhattisgarh. The School Education Department has announced the dates for the Dussehra, Diwali, and winter holidays for the 2026-27 academic session. This time, there will be a five-day break for each of these three occasions, meaning students will receive a total of 15 days of holidays.
5-Day Holiday for Dussehra (October 17–21)
According to the order issued by the School Education Department, schools will remain closed from October 17 to October 21, 2026, for Dussehra. Students will enjoy a continuous five-day break during this period.
Schools to Remain Closed for 5 Days for Diwali Too
Following Dussehra, the Diwali holidays have also been announced. A five-day break is scheduled from November 6 to November 10, 2026, for Diwali. Regular academic activities will not be conducted in schools during this time.
Winter Holidays in December
In addition to festivals, students will also receive a break during the winter season. The winter holidays have been scheduled from December 24 to December 28, 2026; schools will remain closed for five consecutive days during the cold weather.
Reduction in Holidays Compared to 2025-26
In the previous academic session (2025-26), the Dussehra, Diwali, and winter holidays lasted for six days each. The breaks were scheduled from September 29 to October 4 for Dussehra, October 20 to 25 for Diwali, and December 22 to 27 for the winter holidays.
Thus, students received a total of 18 days of holidays across these three occasions in the previous session. However, for the 2026-27 academic session, this has been reduced to 15 days. Full holiday schedule for 2026
