CG State Awards 2026: The Department of Culture, Government of Chhattisgarh, has invited applications for the ‘Chhattisgarh State Awards 2026’ to honor individuals who have made significant contributions in various fields such as art, literature, culture, and social service. Entries have been sought for a total of 12 state-level awards and one national-level award. Interested and eligible individuals may submit their applications in the prescribed format by October 5, 2026.
The selected awardees will be honored at the State Award Ceremony held during ‘Rajyotsav 2026’ (State Foundation Day celebrations).
What is the application process?
Eligible individuals may submit their entries for the state awards using the prescribed application format. The application must include details such as the applicant’s name, address, mobile number, date of birth, and age, as well as information about the proposer. Additionally, a brief summary of the applicant’s achievements must be submitted.
Applicants are required to provide details of any international, national, state, or district-level honors and awards previously received. Furthermore, applicants currently in government service must attach a permission letter obtained from the General Administration Department.
Awards to be presented in 13 major categories
The Department of Culture confers various awards for outstanding contributions across diverse artistic and literary genres. These include the Pt. Sundarlal Sharma Award (Hindi literature), Dau Mandraji Award (folk theatre and folk crafts), and Chakradhar Award (classical music and dance).
Other prestigious awards to be presented across various disciplines include the Devdas Banjare Smriti Puraskar, Lala Jagdalpuri Sahitya Puraskar, Habib Tanvir Award, Laxman Masturia Award, and Khuman Sao Award.
Special awards for Cinema and Pandwani
The Kishore Sahu Award will be presented for significant contributions to Hindi and Chhattisgarhi cinema in fields such as creative writing, direction, acting, and screenwriting. Additionally, the Kishore Sahu National Award will be conferred for excellence in the field of direction. Additionally, the ‘Chhattisgarh Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Award’—for NRIs contributing to the fields of art, literature, and human resource development while living abroad—and the ‘Dr. Teejan Bai State Award’ for contributions to the field of Pandwani will also be conferred.

The Department of Culture has requested eligible artists, litterateurs, and cultural workers to submit their applications via registered post by October 5, 2026.
