Raipur: A significant update has emerged regarding the Assistant Teacher Recruitment-2026 in Chhattisgarh. Amendments have been made to the detailed advertisement for the recruitment of Assistant Teachers under the School Education Department. In compliance with an order from the Chhattisgarh High Court, the Directorate of Public Instruction has issued a corrigendum modifying the eligibility provisions for differently-abled candidates. Under this change, eligible candidates belonging to the visually impaired, hearing impaired, and cerebral palsy categories will also have the opportunity to apply online.
According to the Directorate of Public Instruction, the detailed advertisement for Assistant Teacher recruitment was originally released on the Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board’s website on July 24, 2026. The advertisement has now been amended in compliance with the judgment delivered on October 9, 2026, in the High Court petition (WPS No. 6783 of 2026: Meenakshi Mangalkar & Others vs. Government of Chhattisgarh & Others).
Changes in Eligibility for Differently-Abled Candidates
As per the issued corrigendum, and in alignment with the Social Welfare Department’s amended notification dated September 11, 2026, the categories of visually impaired (B), hearing impaired (D), and cerebral palsy (CP) have been included among the eligible disability categories for the Assistant Teacher post. Additionally, sub-clause (iv) of Clause 05 of the detailed advertisement has been removed.
The group-wise and category-wise distribution of posts reserved for differently-abled persons has also been clarified in accordance with the General Administration Department’s instructions dated March 5, 2019. This includes details of posts reserved for categories such as visually impaired, hearing impaired, orthopedically impaired, and multiple disabilities.
Recruitment for 2,292 Assistant Teacher Posts
A total of 2,292 posts are to be filled under the Assistant Teacher Recruitment-2026 across the ‘E-cadre’ and ‘T-cadre’. The details of the posts are as follows:
E-Cadre: 795 posts
T-Cadre: 1,497 posts
Total posts: 2,292
The E-Cadre includes the districts of Raipur, Durg, Mahasamund, Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara, Balod, Bemetara, Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Janjgir-Champa, Mungeli, Raigarh, and Bilaspur.
Meanwhile, the T-Cadre includes the districts of Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur, Sukma, Surguja, Surajpur, Balrampur-Ramanujganj, Koriya, Jashpur, Korba, Raigarh, Gariaband, and Balod.
Awaiting New Date for Online Applications
The Directorate of Public Instruction has clarified that eligible differently-abled candidates belonging to the Visually Impaired (B), Hearing Impaired (D), and Cerebral Palsy (CP) categories will be given an opportunity to apply online. However, the new application date for these candidates will be announced separately. Details regarding this will be released by the Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board.
