Raipur: In view of the rising cybercrime activities in the state, the Home (Police) Department of the Chhattisgarh government has established the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (S4C). This center will serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for all cybercrime-related activities at the state level. It will operate under the Technical Services Wing of the Police Headquarters (PHQ). An official order regarding this has been issued by the state government. According to the order, two senior IPS officers have been newly appointed to the S4C.
Responsibilities Assigned to the Two IPS Officers
As per the order, Prashant Kumar Agrawal (2008 batch IPS), currently posted as Inspector General of Police at the Chhattisgarh Police Headquarters, has been entrusted with the responsibility of Inspector General of Police, S4C, PHQ. Meanwhile, Girija Shankar Jaiswal (2010 batch IPS), currently posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police (Technical Services) at the Chhattisgarh Police Headquarters, has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General of Police, S4C, PHQ.
Enhanced Monitoring of Cybercrime
The state government has established this center with the aim of ensuring better monitoring and effective enforcement regarding the increasing criminal activities related to cybercrime. The S4C will function as a coordination hub for cybercrime-related cases and activities within the state.
The I4C Model
The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) was established to tackle the rising incidence of cybercrime across the country. Its objective is to foster better coordination among central and state police agencies regarding the prevention, investigation, and prosecution of cybercrimes. The S4C has been established in the state along similar lines.
